Jesper Clausen is a production designer and art director based in Copenhagen. He graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design (MA) in 2012, specialising in production design.
His introduction to film design came through an extended apprenticeship with production designer Jette Lehmann. Working closely with her across a range of film projects, he developed a strong foundation in the craft of production design and the collaborative processes of the art department. During this period, he contributed to projects including Melancholia (2011), directed by Lars von Trier.
Since then, he has worked as art director on feature films with directors such as Bille August, Søren Kragh-Jacobsen, Joshua Oppenheimer, Nikolaj Arcel and Frederikke Aspöck. He has also been involved in Danish international co-productions, with productions partly or fully based abroad, gaining experience in cross-border collaboration and international crews.
In recent years, Jesper has served as production designer on selected projects, designing two feature films and one television series. In 2023, he received the Henning Bahs Award for Best Production Design at the Bodil Awards for his work on Du som er i himlen (2021, dir. Tea Lindeburg), and was also nominated for a Robert Award (Danish Film Academy) for the film’s production design.
